Introduction
Most PSAs have different contract/agreement types for recurring services and once-off payments. Billing Sync will have to accommodate these different contract/agreement types for the automation to work. As a solution, Billing Motions is created.
It is generally just a way to categorize the charges from the Cloud-IQ/Prism invoice.
There are 3 Billing Motions:-
- Seat Based Monthly
- generally for all subscriptions with monthly billing payments to be assigned to monthly contracts/agreements
- Azure Plan
- for Microsoft Azure Plan, also assigned to monthly contracts/agreements in the PSAs
- Seat Based Annual
- for annual subscriptions to be mapped to fixed price contracts or one-time billing agreements
Managing Billing Motions
In general, Billing Motions are the essence of the sync. To enable the sync is to have at least 1 Billing Motion enabled.
You can have any single Billing Motion, a combination of 2 of the 3, or all 3 enabled.
Seat Based Annual
Annual/annual subscriptions work differently, as they do not require recurring billing. As a result, in the PSAs they need a different agreement/contract setup.
Create a new contract for customer you want to sync using the following details (other details are the same):-
1. For Connectwise Manage ensure the billing cycle in the agreement is set to One-Time under Recurring Invoice Parameters
2. For Kaseya AutoTask, use the Fixed Price contract type when creating the new contract
